In 2011, I (Sebastian), my wife (Amry), our daughter (Amelia) and our trusty dog – a Border Terrier named Oscar – moved to Haslemere in Surrey. We found a great property with a good sized garden for many of the said ‘projects’, and now – 4 years later – and with the addition of our son (Jacob) we’re establishing our roots (literally) with a view to staying here for the long-term future.

With the Surrey Hills, Hindhead Common and Blackdown Forest all within a stones throw from where we live, the countryside is on our doorstep, and having recently purchased a subscription to the National Trust, we’re also keen to explore some of the gems that England has to offer.

We will be splitting up our post related content into 4 main areas;

In The Garden – Projects and features for in and around the garden.
In The Home – Projects, recipes and features for in and around the home.
Days Out, Walks & Events – Features on excursions and attractions.
Announcements  which we will be using for posts such as this one.

Along the way, we will be looking to hear from you, and encourage you to interact in the comments box or via our social media channels (more on those in a minute).

We aim to keep this a realistic documentation of our projects and excursions, so, for example, if I totally wreck a hedge that Im trimming, don’t expect to see a glorified, finely pruned end result 🙂 No doubt lessons will be learnt along the way, and we look forward to sharing them with you.

As mentioned, we have a comments box at the end of each post – please feel free to leave your feedback on each of our entries, and don’t be afraid to share you own experiences and views!
